How to Restrict Regular Users From Editing AptEdge Settings in the Salesforce Widget

Use this guide to limit which Salesforce users can modify AptEdge settings from the embedded widget. By creating a restricted permission set, you can allow read-only access while blocking edits to sensitive fields.

Clone the AptEdge Permission Set

1. In Salesforce, go to Setup → Permission Sets.
2. Locate the AptEdge permission set.
3. Clone it and rename it for clarity (e.g., AptEdge Read-Only).

Update Object Permissions

1. Open the newly created permission set.
2. Navigate to Object Settings → AptEdgeSettings → Edit.
3. Under Object Permissions, enable:
   • Read

   • Create

     (Leave Edit unchecked.)

Adjust Field-Level Permissions

1. Within the same AptEdgeSettings section, scroll to Field Permissions.
2. Find AptEdge App Token (aptEdge__Token__c).
3. Deselect Edit Access for this field, ensuring users cannot modify the token.

Assign the Permission Set to Restricted Users

Note: If your organization uses another method to assign permission sets to users, please follow that method.

1. Go to the Manage Assignments section of the new permission set.
2. Assign it to all users who should have read-only access to AptEdge settings.
