Use this guide to limit which Salesforce users can modify AptEdge settings from the embedded widget. By creating a restricted permission set, you can allow read-only access while blocking edits to sensitive fields.
Clone the AptEdge Permission Set
- In Salesforce, go to Setup → Permission Sets.
- Locate the AptEdge permission set.
- Clone it and rename it for clarity (e.g., AptEdge Read-Only).
Update Object Permissions
- Open the newly created permission set.
- Navigate to Object Settings → AptEdgeSettings → Edit.
- Under Object Permissions, enable:
- Read
Create
(Leave Edit unchecked.)
Adjust Field-Level Permissions
- Within the same AptEdgeSettings section, scroll to Field Permissions.
- Find AptEdge App Token (aptEdge__Token__c).
- Deselect Edit Access for this field, ensuring users cannot modify the token.
Assign the Permission Set to Restricted Users
Note: If your organization uses another method to assign permission sets to users, please follow that method.
- Go to the Manage Assignments section of the new permission set.
- Assign it to all users who should have read-only access to AptEdge settings.
