This guide walks you through connecting SharePoint document libraries to AptEdge. This integration uses Delegated Permissions, meaning AptEdge will only ever see what your designated integration account is permitted to see.
Setup a Dedicated Integration Account
Before starting the setup, we recommend using a dedicated Integration Account (also known as a Service Account) rather than a personal staff account.
Why use an Integration Account? This ensures the integration remains stable even if an employee leaves. It also provides a cleaner audit trail in your Microsoft Entra logs.
-
Permissions & Access: * The account must have a valid Microsoft Teams license.
Crucial: The account must be added as a Member to every Team and specific Channel you intend to ingest. If the integration account cannot "see" the channel within the Teams app, AptEdge will not be able to pull data from it.
Find your Tenant ID
Before setting up this integration, you will need your Microsoft 365 Tenant ID.
Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center (formerly Azure Active Directory).
On the Overview page, locate the Tenant ID in the "Basic Information" section.
Copy this ID for use in the next step.
Setup Integration on AptEdge
In AptEdge, click on the Settings (gear) icon and scroll down to the Social section.
Click on the pencil icon on the MS Teams tab.
Enter the Tenant ID you copied from the Entra admin center.
-
Click on Authorize.
CRITICAL: When the Microsoft login window appears, ensure you sign in with your Dedicated Integration Account, not your personal account.
You will be redirected to a permissions page. If you are a Global Admin, select the checkbox "Consent on behalf of your organization" to streamline access for all users.
Click Accept to complete the OAuth handshake.
Identify Teams and Channels for Ingestion
At this point, the tenant is connected, but no data will be ingested until specific teams and channels are added individually. You will need the Team URL for each group you wish to sync.
How to get a Team URL:
In Microsoft Teams, click the three dots (...) beside the Team name.
Select Get link to team.
Click Copy.
Example URL format: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/channel/19%3a2e50a73363854d34422a302943603c1e%40thread.tacv2/General?groupId=...
Connect Specific Teams and Channels
In the AptEdge MS Teams settings, click Add.
Paste the Team URL and click Connect.
Once connected, a sub-menu will display all available channels within that team.
Select the channels you want to ingest and click Update & Save.
Managing Your Connection:
Modifying Selection: Checking or unchecking a channel box will immediately start or stop ingestion for that specific channel.
Deletion: If you uncheck a channel, its messages will be removed from AptEdge search results within a few hours.
Full Removal: To remove an entire team and all its historical data from AptEdge, click the delete (trash can) icon beside the team name.
